December 14th, 2007 · No Comments

Australia has some of the highest priced real estate in the world according to Demographia. The calculations are based on the number of years of household income required to pay for a house.

As expected, Sydney is the most expensive city in Australia taking 8.5 years to buy a home costing $520,300. Sydney is the 7th worst in the world with only cities in California and Hawaii being worse.

Interestingly, Brisbane is the cheapest state capital requiring a much less 6.1 years for a home worth $330,000.Only Canberra and Darwin cost less.
